Agape
A poem on the love of man vs the love of God
I love you as long as our beliefs are the same. I love you. Just don’t evolve or change. I love you, as long as you don’t hurt me. I love you, as long as you always love me. I can love you to the extent that I love myself. I don’t love you anymore because I love someone else. I love you, but don’t ask too much of me. I love you today, tomorrow’s not guaranteed. It would be weird if I told you that I love you. You’re just a friend, a stranger, and it’s too soon. I love you until my fears are exposed. And you don’t need me to say it, you should already know. No. I love you beyond space and time, unconditionally. I love you if you’re a stranger or barely know me. I love you as my enemy, I forgive you. I love you sacrificially, in servitude. I love you when you can’t see because you’re drenched from the rain. I love you so much that I become you, and cry from your pain. I love you when you don’t love yourself, and feel judged and ashamed. I love you in your darkness, when you’ve lost your way. I love you when happiness feels so hard to attain. I love you when you fall, I’ll catch you when you break. I love you through mistakes, I have infinite grace. I love you when you leave, not only if you stay. I will love you tomorrow, as I love you today. I love you as God loves the world, Agape.
